Amesville Writers' Workshop! Thursday, June 8th through Saturday, June 10th, 2023

The workshop will feature lectures, craft workshops, and writing sessions along with public readings by local authors and an evening dance with live local music.

The cost is $350 and will include all activities, all meals, sessions with publishers, and a local cultural/social activity of the participants choosing. These will include a tour of local breweries and wineries, mountain biking on the acclaimed Bailey's Trail, or a flower and farm tour.

Featured authors include:

Robert Gipe, author of the critically acclaimed illustrated novel trilogy Trampoline, Weedeater, and Pop.  Gipe was also a consultant on the Emmy Award winning television series Dopesick. In 2002 he founded the Higher Ground Players in Harlan, Kentucky, a community theater troupe that produces plays about life in the region.

Meagan Lucas is the author of the award-winning novel Songbirds and Stray Dogs. Songbirds and Stray Dogs was named Best Debut at the 2020 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and was the 2022 North Carolina selection for the Library of Congress "Route 1 Reads" program. Her forthcoming collection of short stories, Here in the Dark, is due out in 2023. Meagan is also the Editor in Chief of the journal, Reckon Review.

Edward Karshner is an Associate Professor of English at Robert Morris University and author of “These Stories Sustain Me” in the collection Appalachian Reckoning: A Region Replies to Hillbilly Elegy. His short fiction has appeared in the anthologies Haints and Hollers, Shelved (both from Mountain Gap Books) and It Came from the Swamp (Malarkey Books). He is also a folklore columnist for the journal Reckon Review.

Refund Policy: We know things can change and that you may need to cancel for unforeseen circumstances.  Our refund policy is as follows.  All refunds will be less a $25 handling fee (the credit card companies charge us for processing).  Cancellations before Feb. 1, 2023 will be for a full refund (less handling fee). Cancellations after Feb. 1, 2023 will be made if we can replace the participant. If a replacement is not found, we will refund $200 as we must make catering and other decisions by that date.
